Bloom was inspired by my time working in a daycare program. During the time I spent with the children, I found that when they were overwhelmed or upset they would often gravitate towards secluded hiding spots to regulate themselves. Many times, if there was nowhere to hide, they would create a fort for privacy. Bloom’s whimsical shape encourages children to engage in imaginative play, and provides a cozy hideaway.
The petal cushions have magnets along their sides allowing them to come together creating a flower fort, or be lowered for lounging. Each petal is attached to the ottoman using snaps, making the petals easy to remove, and transforming Bloom into an ottoman and coffee table. Bloom’s many functions allow it to suit the user’s changing needs as they transition from childhood into adulthood.
