Sugar Spoons

Create a set of three identical spoons made from maple wood.

I decided to design a set of sugar spoons for tea and coffee, along with matching spoon rests. I wanted my design to be very dainty and curvilinear.

I started by sketching many spoon forms until I found one I was happy with. I then drew the top and side views in illustrator so I could trace them onto the wood. I also did a rapid prototype out of foam to practice the process. First, I used the bandsaw to cut the top and side view of each spoon and spoon rest out. I then began to file the edges to create the rounded effect I was looking for. Next, I used a Dremel to shape out the spoon and spoons rests' bowls. Finally, I sanded them to perfection!
